Power in God’s Spoken Words
A bible study by Adam Osborne, JR and
Rev. Adam Osborne, DD
19 January, 2004

Adam’s comments…. Have you ever heard a preacher in the pulpit and you can’t believe just how good that preacher’s sermon is! Week after week that same preacher continues to captivate his congregation in one great sermon after another. Or have you ever been in a Sunday school class and your quiet, humble deacon or usher leads you in one of the best Sunday school lessons that you have ever heard? Don’t you just live for weeks like that? Doesn’t your heart just cry out for joy when you see the unbeliever walk up the aisle and surrenders to God’s calling through those people whom God has empowered to preach and teach His holy word! God gives us all talents and gifts. But to some, he has empowered with the gifts of preaching and teaching. The Holy Spirit gives them their words, their sermons, and their weekly bible studies..

Acts 1:8 (KJV) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Luke 21:14-15 (KJV) Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Settle therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer: For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

John 14:26 (KJV) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Acts 6:10 (KJV) And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake. But the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

Jer 1:9 (KJV) Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Settle therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:

Ex 4:12 (KJV) Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

Mark 13:10-11 (KJV) And the gospel must first be published among all nations. Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. And the gospel must first be published among all nations. But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

Luke 12:11-12 (KJV) And when they bring you unto the synagogues, and unto magistrates, and powers, take ye no thought how or what thing ye shall answer, or what ye shall say: For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

1 Peter 1:12 (NIV) 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.

2 Sam 23:2-3 (NIV) 2 “The Spirit of the LORD spoke through me; his word was on my tongue. 3 The God of Israel spoke, the Rock of Israel said to me: ‘When one rules over men in righteousness, when he rules in the fear of God,

Acts 2:4 (NIV) All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

John 12:48-49 (NIV) 48 There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day. 49 For I did not speak of my own accord, but the Father who sent me commanded me what to say and how to say it.

John 14:10 (KJV) Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.

John 16:13 (KJV) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Our Church Needs to Praise God

Our Church Needs To Praise God

A reprinted sermon preached by

Dr. Greg R. Wrigley

Orange Avenue Baptist Church

Acts 2: 47 Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.

1. The WHYS to praise God:

  • The Plan of God: Psalms 21:13 Be Thou exalted, O Lord, in Thy strength; We will sing and praise Thy Power.
  • The Purpose of God: Psalms 150 Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary; Praise Him in His mighty expanse. Praise Him for His mighty deeds; Praise Him according to his excellent greatness. Praise Him with trumpet sound; Praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with timbrel (tambourine) and dancing; Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.

2. The WAYS to praise God:

  • Psalms 66:2,8 Sing the glory of His name, make His praise glorious. Say to God, “How awesome are thy works! Because of the greatness of Thy power Thine enemies will give feigned obedience to Thee. “All the earth will worship Thee, And will sing praises to Thee. They will sing praises to Thy Name.” Come and see the works of God, who is awesome in His deeds towards the sons of men. He turned the sea into dry land; They passed through the river on foot; There let us rejoice in Him! He rules by His might forever; His eyes keep watch on the nations; Let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Bless our God, O peoples, and sound His praise abroad.
  • Psalms 98:4 Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth; Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises.
  • Psalms 145:21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord; And all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever.
  • Acts 3:8-9 And with a leap, he stood upright and began to walk; and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God.
  • Ephesians 1:12 to the end that we who were the first to hope in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.

Old Testament Law versus New Testament

A bible study by

Adam Osborne, Jr.

Dedicated to Dad. As long as I can remember, Dad’s always known the chapter and verse of any bible question I could throw at him. He is who I turned to when I questions regarding the Old or New Testaments. Dad, thanks for getting me started on the right track.

Adam’s comments: I have always been confused over the role of the “old law” and how it effects the modern day Christian. I have heard some of today’s preachers say that the Law is “dead” and we, modern Christians, are not bound by it. Obviously the old law still serves some purpose. This is evident just by the numerous sermons that is preached every Sunday in churches around the world using Old Testament scriptures. Even Jesus used the Old Testament scriptures to witness, to teach, and to help sinners understand the kingdom of Heaven.: I have always been confused over the role of the “old law” and how it effects the modern day Christian. The Old Testament can still be used for our learning how to behave and to give us hope.

Romans 15:4 (KJV) For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. (KJV) For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.Romans 15:4 (NIV) For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.(NIV) For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

(NIV) For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

  • Scriptures of the Old Testament were written for our learning and our example.
  • Secondly, That we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. The scriptures are there to show us that through God we have a savior who is active in our lives and will care for us no matter what.
  • It DOES have application for us today, something to learn by.
  • God wants you to know his word.

1 Corinthians 10:11 (KJV) Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.(KJV) Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.1 Corinthians 10:11 (NIV) These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.

(KJV) Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.(NIV) These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.

All scripture is given by God for daily use, not just the New Testament

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (KJV) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:(KJV) All scripture given by inspiration of God, and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

(KJV) All scripture given by inspiration of God, and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

  • All scripture, not just some!
  • Inspiration of God, divinely instituted and monitored. God breathed.
  • “Is profitable for doctrine.” Scripture is good “for doctrine,” that is, for teaching. That’s why we teach it.
  • Studying the bible daily will bring conviction upon your heart, your mind and your soul. If you are really trying to “study the bible, not just read it” the Word of the Lord will convict you and bring about a Godly change in your life.

The Old Covenant is “established” by faith and is still required knowledge for today.

Romans 3:31 (KJV) Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.(KJV) Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

(KJV) Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

  • The “Law” here is the Mosaic Law.
  • Jesus’ life, death and subsequent resurrection “established” the law. He accomplished all of it, he proved it.
  • The Old Testament Law always required blood atonement for sins. Jesus was the perfect Lamb of God.

The Old Testament “Law” is written to show us the exceeding sinfulness of sin.

Romans 5:20 (KJV) Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: (KJV) Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:Romans 5:20 (LIVING BIBLE) The Ten Commandments were given so that all could see the extent of their failure to obey God’s laws. But the more we see our sinfulness, the more we see God’s abounding grace forgiving us.(LIVING BIBLE) The Ten Commandments were given so that all could see the extent of their failure to obey God’s laws. But the more we see our sinfulness, the more we see God’s abounding grace forgiving us.

(LIVING BIBLE) The Ten Commandments were given so that all could see the extent of their failure to obey God’s laws. But the more we see our sinfulness, the more we see God’s abounding grace forgiving us.

  • It was necessary that the law should be written so that we recognize sin.

The Law is Just and Good

Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

  • Adam Clarke’s Commentary says “The Law therefore, is the grand instrument in the hands of a faithful minister, to alarm and awaken sinners; and he may safely show that every sinner is under the law, and consequently under the curse, who has not fled for refuge to the hope held out by the Gospel: for, in this sense also, Jesus Christ is the END of the LAW for justification to them that believe.”

  • As Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believes, the object of God in giving the law was to unite you to Christ.

.. Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. What shall we say then? the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

What shall we say then? the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

  • Vernon McGee writes “Paul will now show that the Law is good; it reveals God’s will. The difficulty is not with the Law; the difficulty is with us. The flesh is at fault.”

The Law brings us to Christ

Galatians 2:15-16 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,We Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

We Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles,Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

  • Life Application Bible Notes: “If observing the Jewish laws cannot justify us, why should we still obey the Ten Commandments and other Old Testament laws? We know that Paul was not saying the law is bad, because in another letter he wrote, “the Law is holy” (Romans 7:12). Instead, he is saying that the law can never make us acceptable to God. The law still has an important role to play in the life of a Christian. The law: (1) guards us from sin by giving us standards for behavior; (2) convicts us of sin, leaving us the opportunity to ask for God’s forgiveness; (3) drives us to trust in the sufficiency of Christ, because we can never keep the Ten Commandments perfectly. The law cannot possibly save us. But after we have become Christians, it can guide us to live as God requires.”

Galatians 3:22-24 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

  • The law was our schoolmaster, our teacher, to bring us and teach us of Christ.

The following scriptures taken from “Torey’s Topical Bible” all give reference to the continued usefulness of the Old Testament Laws. Notice how MOST of the scriptures are New Testament. This proves, undoubtedly, that the Old Testament Laws are still relevant and required knowledge for today’s, New Testament society.

The Law of God

  • Is absolute and Perpetual

Matt 5:18 (KJV) Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.(KJV)

(KJV)

  • Pure

Psalms 19:8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

  • Spiritual

Romans 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

  • Holy, just and Good

Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

  • Not grevious

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

  • The Law teaches us Sin

Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

  • Our conscience testifies to the Law

Romans 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)

  • The Law was (and still is) designed to lead us to Christ

Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

  • Obedience of the Law is a test of love

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

  • Obedience of the Law is of prime importance

1 Corinthians 7:19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

  • Blessedness of keeping the Law

Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

1 John 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

1 John 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

Revelations 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

  • Christ came to fulfill the Law, not destroy the Law

Matthew 5:17-18 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

  • Christ magnified the Law as foretold in the Old Testament

Isaiah 42:21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable.

  • Christ explained the Law

Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

  • Saints have the Law written in their hearts

Hebrews 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

  • Saints delight in the Law

Romans 7:22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

  • The Law is the rule of the judgment

Romans 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;

  • The Law is to be used correctly

1 Timothy 1:8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;

  • The Law is established by faith

Romans 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

James 5:14-15 (KJV) 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil (1637) in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

OIL and healing

Luke 10:34 NIV He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him.

NIV He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him.Isaiah 1:6 NIV From the sole of your foot to the top of your head there is no soundness– only wounds and welts and open sores, not cleansed or bandaged or soothed with oil.

Mark 6:13 NIV They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them.

More scriptures associated with OIL

Only olive oil seems to have been used among the Hebrews. It was used for many purposes: for anointing the body or the hair

Ex 29:7 (NIV) Take the anointing oil and anoint him by pouring it on his head.

2 Sam 14:2 (KJV) And Joab sent to Tekoah, and fetched thence a wise woman, and said unto her, I pray thee, feign thyself to be a mourner, and put on now mourning apparel, and anoint not thyself with oil, but be as a woman that had a long time mourned for the dead:

Psalms 23:5 (KJV) Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Psalms 92:10 (KJV) But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

Psalms 104:15 (KJV) And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.

Luke 7:46 (KJV) My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.

?

OIL was used in some of the offerings

Ex 29:40 (KJV) And with the one lamb a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil; and the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering.

(KJV) And with the one lamb a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil; and the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering.Lev 7:12 (KJV) If he offer it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and cakes mingled with oil, of fine flour, fried.

(KJV) And with the one lamb a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil; and the fourth part of an hin of wine for a drink offering. (KJV) If he offer it for a thanksgiving, then he shall offer with the sacrifice of thanksgiving unleavened cakes mingled with oil, and unleavened wafers anointed with oil, and cakes mingled with oil, of fine flour, fried.Num 15:4 (KJV) Then shall he that offereth his offering unto the LORD bring a meat offering of a tenth deal of flour mingled with the fourth part of an hin of oil.

OIL was excluded from the sin-offering and the jealousy-offering

Lev 5:11 (KJV) But if he be not able to bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, then he that sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil upon it, neither shall he put any frankincense thereon: for it is a sin offering.

Num 5:15 (KJV) Then shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and he shall bring her offering for her, the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to remembrance.

OIL was used for burning in lamps

Ex 25:6 (KJV) Oil for the light, spices for anointing oil, and for sweet incense,

Ex 27:20 (KJV) And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.

Matt 25:3 (KJV) They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

OIL was used for anointing the dead

Matt 26:12 (KJV) For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.

Luke 23:56 (KJV) And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

?

OIL was one of the most valuable products of the country

Deut 32:13 (KJV) He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;

(KJV) He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock;Ezek 16:13 (KJV) Thus wast thou decked with gold and silver; and thy raiment was of fine linen, and silk, and broidered work; thou didst eat fine flour, and honey, and oil: and thou wast exceeding beautiful, and thou didst prosper into a kingdom.

OIL formed an article of extensive commerce with Tyre

Ezek 27:17 (KJV) Judah, and the land of Israel, they were thy merchants: they traded in thy market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.

?

The use of OIL was a sign of goodness

Psalms 92:10 (KJV) But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

Isaiah 61:3 (KJV) To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

The omission of OIL is a token of sorrow

2 Sam 14:2 (KJV) And Joab sent to Tekoah, and fetched thence a wise woman, and said unto her, I pray thee, feign thyself to be a mourner, and put on now mourning apparel, and anoint not thyself with oil, but be as a woman that had a long time mourned for the dead:

Matt 6:17 (KJV) But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face

The Will of the Lord

A bible study by

Ephesians 5:17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

What is the “Will of the Lord?”

Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Jesus clearly summed up the will of God in these four verses. First and foremost, love the Lord your God with everything you have. Then, love your fellow man. If you do these two commandments on which “hang all the law and the prophets” surely you are well on your way to doing God’s will.

How do you do this? Is it achievable? The following verses are provided to give us a close look at how we go about doing the will of God.

Achieving God’s Will in Our Lives.

Matthew 18:14 Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.

God doesn’t want any of us to be lost or perish. He wants all of his children to join him in heaven.

John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

God wants us to serve him, to bring about his works here on earth. What are his works? For all of us to love him, obey his commandments, help our fellow man, pray without ceasing, and seek eternal life with him in heaven.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

You should always thank God for all the blessings you receive. But, you should also thank God for any situation you are going through, even the difficult ones. Why? Because of this promise, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” God will strengthen you and help you. You might not understand it at the time, but everything eventually is for our own good. Through trials and tribulations God is molding you, developing you. If you count on him and seek him, he will always be there for you.

1 Thessalonians 4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

Sanctification means literally “to be set aside for God.” We should most certainly abstain from sexual sins like fornication since we are set aside as one of his people. He created us special, unlike anything else he created. He created us “in his image.” We are special to him. He doesn’t want us to defile our bodies. “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.“

Collosians 4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

We Christians should always labor one for another so that we can help our brother and sister stand tall, perfect and complete before God. ” So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.“

You must “walk the walk”, not just “talk the talk.”

Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

You can’t fake your relationship with the Father. He knows and he searches your heart. You might be able to fool mankind, but not God. No amount of pleading on judgment day will help you. You must do and follow God’s will in your life here and now.

Ephesians 6:6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

Be “real” not phony. Don’t kiss up to the boss just to look good. Christians are to set the example, doing good in all things from your renewed mind and heart.

What are the obstacles to doing the will of God?

1 Peter 4:2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

The lusts of the flesh are a real stumbling block for all of us. However, God has provided us a way out. He hasn’t given us anything more than we can handle. He has provided the Holy Spirit which will be our conscience, our trainer, and our comforter.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.Following and conforming to the “world”, a very formidable temptation, will lead to death. The world seems to have so much to offer, but they are only temporary. Fame and fortune are all to be counted as loss when it comes to heavenly things. Luke 12:34For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Will you suffer while doing the “Will of God?”

1 Peter 3:17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

Many people falsely believe that you will not suffer once you are a Christian. This is not correct. Brethren, you will suffer. Jesus told us that we will be hated, as he was hated. But, there is promise of eternal joy for that suffering. The book of Psalms said it well, “but joy cometh in the morning.” Jesus calls those who are persecuted “blessed” in Matthew 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

1 Peter 4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

Suffering in this lifetime is hard, but God will provide you strength. Great will be your reward in Heaven, and heaven lasts for eternity!!!! So, keep the faith. Keep fighting the fight. Don’t give up in spreading the good news. Be glad at your persecutions and sufferings, keep your eyes focused on heaven and on God.

What happens when you follow the “Will of God?”

1 John 2:17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

You live forever with God in heaven. The land of no pain, no tears.

Mark 3:35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

You will become “one” with Jesus, considered his family, bound to spend eternity with him in heaven.

1 Peter 2:15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

Christians are the light of the world! A true Christian is a beacon, to be seen, to set the example for others. Your Godly actions will glorify your Father in heaven and prove to the non-believer that there is a true, living God. Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven

Romans 15:32 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

Those who know and follow the will of God will have a refreshing of their heart, will, and mind. A joyful peace, enjoying the love of God in your life.

Hebrews 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

The promise of life everlasting. Continuous fellowship with God our Father. What a wonderful blessing.

The Final Results!!!!

John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
